But today we all dream of having one of their bags over our shoulders. She personally stands behind timeless classics like No. 5 – the perfume, the little black dress and the 2.55 Chanel bag. But who was this highly talented and fascinating woman behind one of the most famous fashion brands in the world?

From poverty to world empire

coco chanel is one of the greatest fashion designers in history. Today, most people have heard about Chanel fashion clothes and perfume, but who exactly was this talented businesswoman associated with Paris in various ways. Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel was born in Saumur in western France in 1883. One is not sure where the nickname Coco came from, but it followed her throughout her life. Coco’s mother died when she was 12 years old. Her father was a traveling entertainer who took her to a convent when she was 13. Here she learned to sew, and when she was 18 she left the convent and was employed as a dressmaker in a shop in town. Moulins in central France. In 1909, Coco met the love of his life, Englishman Arthur “Boy” Capel. He was very wealthy. Around World War I, “Boy” funded several businesses where Coco made and sold hats and fashion apparel. She was very creative and a bit daring in her fashion. In 1918, however, “Boy” married another woman and together they had two children. Coco Chanel died in 1971 at the age of 87. She worked to the last on designing clothes. Today, the Wertheimer family is behind Chanel perfume and clothing. Its chief designer was the well-known German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, and the Chanel company itself has its international headquarters in a modern building in the west of Paris.

A combination of the timeless and the new

coco chanel The two Cs crossing each other are considered one of the most recognizable shapes and logos in the world. A logo most people recognize, one that reminds us of ballerina shoes and bouclé jackets, of quilted bags and wrapped Chanel No. 5 perfumes. The design exudes an aura of unattainability, unavoidable style and luxury. Because everything on which Chanel’s success as a fashion house is based is classic: a classic fragrance and classic objects. But today the success is much broader as Chanel is also a digital leader in its luxury real estate class with over a million followers on YouTube and 27 million on Instagram and several ambitious digital projects on the drawing board. Granted, we currently have a penchant for timeless fashion, but we’re still chasing the new. This combination is particularly the reason why Chanels has a great success.
